Step 1 Ground Preparation
How to prepare the floor before laying indoor artificial grass
Before laying artificial grass, you must prepare the ground beneath. Health and safety are paramount in a play centre like The Hungry Llama, so a smooth, flat base is essential to prevent trips or accidents. Infill all holes and level off any bumps before applying a self-levelling compound. We prepped with commercial floor screed for a level finish.
Step 2 Waterproof Paint The Floor Beneath
How to waterproof artificial grass
After applying the screed or self-levelling compound base, we applied a vital waterproof coating. We chose a grass-coloured green to enhance the fake grass above. This protects the floor from spills, water damage, and little mishaps that are unavoidable in a child’s play area. Then, a soft protective underlay was used to cushion any falls and ensure a soft feel under little feet.
Step 3 The Fake Grass Finish

Once the ground preparation is complete and the underlay is fitted, it is time to lay the non-slip, luscious-looking artificial grass.
Resulting in a safe, long-lasting, and maintenance-free play area floor, providing years of enjoyment for children!
