2024 saw a return to nature through primarily organic tones and muted, luxurious greys. Also, there were eye-catching geometrics and timeless natural parquets – like the Amtico Oak Parquet you see in the living room image. Let us reminisce and show you some of our favourite fitted floors across the last 12 months – making floors in homes across Yorkshire less ordinary. Here is our year in reflection. Amtico Spacia Herringbone
It was tricky to pick just one, but this January kitchen floor stood out in our memories! Following our expert preparation process, this rustic wood-looking herringbone floor was laid in a chevron design. It offers a wonderfully multi-tonal and interesting floor. An organic-looking geometric luxury vinyl to kick start the year!

Grey Stair Runner Saxony Carpet
As the weather got colder, it was time to get cosier underfoot. Our February pick was this stain-free grey saxon stair runner. Grey was 2024’s most popular carpet tone, and you can see why here. It tones with everything and brings light, yet remains more muted than white or cream. Finished with decorative stairrods, these painted black stairs are styled to perfection!

ENGINEERED WOOD Floor
For April, we picked an exotic, multi-tonal engineered wood floor as our show-stopper. It beautifully offsets this client’s home’s ornate mirrors and intricate feature wallpaper.

HARVEY MARIA Concrete Floor
May’s interior design choice brought the outdoors inside. Light, unfinished concrete effect flooring with custom-rim edging on the step pairs beautifully with an organically toned sand stair carpet. The client’s choice of typically raw, alfresco tones brought nature’s colour palette indoors. So durable. So warm underfoot. Yet, it is so cool.

ADAMS CARPETS Striped Stairs
Nothing sets the summertime scene better than a deckchair, which led to our July choice – Adams Carpets in Cromer Deckchair. We loved this fun, stripey staircase. Made with fine wool, it is a British-made carpet in ultra-modern colours and made this hallway and staircase POP!Â

Alternative Flooring Anywhere Herringbone Stair Runner
August, we picked the British brand Alternative Flooring. In Anywhere Herringbone, this show-stopping carpet makes a high-impact entrance! A heavy footfall staircase brought alive with a zig-zagged monochrome herringbone carpet with a refined black edging detail. Finished with Stairrods, it truly makes these white-painted steps pop!

Ulster Carpets Combine With Harvey Maria Flooring
Autumn brought more grey, this time a carpet and flooring combination with a gentle yet captivating effect. This hallway and stairs were styled using Ulster Carpets Open Spaces in Laneve Auckland & Harvey Maria Flooring in Wallbrook Sherwin Slate. The textures, patterns and colours were a harmonious recipe for a welcoming, calm home.

HARVEY MARIA Checkerboard Floor
In the depths of Autumn, this checkerboard black and white floor by Harvey Maria injected life back into this hallway. Geometry in flooring has been popular this year, and the monochrome geometric design you see here works beautifully with the grey stair carpet and white furnishings. A UK designer floor that impressed us and all who walk on it!

Brockway Carpets Lakeland Herdwick Collection in Weave Farnside
The meeting of patterns and materials was a common theme this year, with many fusions of flooring and carpets. This choice was a worthy showcase. A patterned vinyl required an interesting, hardwearing, yet not overpowering staircase to match. The choice was this rustic, natural-look wool-mix weaved carpet by Brockway Carpets. The look was distinguished with a black carpet runner edging. A cosy, exquisite staircase that combines natural element hues with the geometric design below.
DECEMBER
Amtico Form Basketweave In Valley Oak
Herringbone remained a massive feature in 2024, and I’m sure it will remain a key trend for many years to come. Our final choice was between a Karndean Art Select classic dark parquet and this Amtico Form laid in a basketweave style. Its symmetrical, intricate design with multi-tonal highlights reflects the light and brings vibrancy underfoot. This warming Amtico oak floor will enrich any home all year around for decades. In closing, 2024 was a year of grey and parquet, with numerous patterns and other personalised colour schemes appearing. However, the key trends were monochrome geometrics, timeless herringbones and every shade of grey. Across the past 12 months, we have seen more and more clients personalising their homes with their own distinctive style. This personalisation has seen carpet runners becoming increasingly popular.
